As with the Image, Reebok, Nordic Track, Healthrider and Proform treadmills, the Weslo treadmill is produced by Icon Health and Fitness. With over 1 billion in sales, Icon stands to be a big if not the biggest retail fitness company in the world.
Weslo is the entry level brand of Icon. What does this mean? They are the lowest priced treadmills on the market. Their treadmills range from $129 to $699. The word “cheap” is definitely a good word to describe these low priced treadmills. But don’t get your hopes up because the phrase “low priced treadmills” is often a disguise for “low quality treadmills”. Pros
Weslo is an affordable priced treadmill brand. Weslo treadmills are the least expensive treadmills on the market. Paying $129 on a treadmill is peanuts but this does come with a price to pay which we discuss in the weak points.
Being able to go overseas to find lower priced components, Weslo has upped the ante by adding a longer warranty on their motors. This does not mean they offer a good warranty, it just means they have improved their treadmills credibility (not by much) by increasing their motor warranty.
Cons
Like most treadmills, you get what you pay for. Paying the low price on a Weslo treadmill will give you a low quality machine with a short warranty of 90 days on parts. If you are a serious runner, expect to pay over $1500 for a decent and reliable treadmill. Otherwise, we strongly recommend you buy a Weslo treadmill to walk on, nothing more. Running or even light jogging will break it apart in no time.
Weslo treadmills have extremely weak motor powers. They range from manual (that’s right, no motor power) to 1.5 CHP motors. A 1.5 continuous horse power motor is the minimum requirement we recommend on a treadmill. Otherwise, the belt will slip every time pressure persists and it won’t be long before the motor gives out.
There are very few features offered with a Weslo treadmill. This is not a very important criterion but other brands in similar price ranges, such as Image, offer more enticing overall packages.
Summary
If you are on a tight budget, a Weslo treadmill can meet your price expectancy however we don’t encourage you to take that path. It’s low quality, weak stability, low power, and lack of features heavily out weighs its affordability.
