Tunturi Brand
Company
Tunturi is not your average fitness equipment manufacturer. For starters, their headquarters are located in Turku, Finland. They are a part of Accell group and 90% of its equipment is exported.
They began with the production of bicycles. With 80 years of experience behind them, they were the leading manufacturers for exercise bikes. The made both bicycles and motorized bikes. Towards the 90’s, they made a move to focus solely in manufacturing fitness equipment.
Tunturi is big in Europe; it has a high market share in Great Britain, Germany, Austria and Switzerland. The past years have seen an increase in the North American market.
Their strengths lie in its quality, technology and innovations. Tunturi has worked its way to become a reputable company. In Finland, they are the leading manufacturer in fitness equipment.
Pros
Tunturi has strong motors and it is warranted for 15 years. No belt is greater than 20 x 60. Therefore the motor will have no problem powering the belt.
Tunturi treadmills also have a good cushioning system. This can prove very useful if you plan on using the machine regularly. The Cushioning system is one of the most important features on the machine. Thankfully, Tunturi treadmills have this one covered.
As far as quality and resilience is concerned, they are average.
Cons
Unfortunately, Tunturi treadmills for US homes are made in Taiwan. This in effect lowers the quality and is not a reflection of the quality that Tunturi has a reputation for.
The warranty on parts and electrical components is weak. These machines value from $1,500 - $3,000, you would expect a longer duration of the warranty. (If you register with them, they will add 12 months to the warranty.)
Summary
Tunturi treadmills are not the best in the industry. The fact that US models are manufactured in Taiwan acts as a deterring factor. These machines are average, and there aren’t many distributors in America. This can cause some problems.
For these reasons, we would suggest other mid-high end brands.
