Star Trac treadmills’ emergence into the fitness community began mainly in the gyms. Its primary targets were local fitness center as it offers high quality and a heavy price tag. However, since the boom in household exercise equipments, Star Trac made added effort to bring treadmills to your home.
Star Trac is partnered with Mad Dogg Athletics Inc., the creators of the Johnny G Spinner. This partnership is highlighted by Star Trac building the patented Spinner bike while Mad Dogg Athletics supplies the Spinning educational program.
Star Trac treadmills are known for their high quality and performance. They have a reputation for their excellent reliability and low maintenance. Their treadmills are pricy and can cost from $3,400 - $8,000, depending on the model and features.

Star Trac has 6 treadmill models, however only one is for home use. Its other models are tailored for commercial use and won’t be reviewed. The TR901 Star Trac is the only home treadmill.
Pros
Star Trac treadmills are durable, resilient, and performing. These treadmills were originally made for commercial use, where the usage is constant and much higher than a household treadmill. It has welded frames that solidify the machine.
Their warranty can be good. 3 year warranty on parts is the minimum length for a high end treadmill. Look into Nautilus and Bodyguard treadmills for longer warranties.
Star Track treadmills can withstand more abuse than any other manufacturer. Another strong point is that Star Trac treadmill’s decks are usually reversible, thus lengthening the lifetime of there decks by two.
Another key point is that they focus a lot on user friendliness. Their treadmills usually have good electronics design and easy to navigate consoles. They usually come with quick starts, heart rate monitors, and safety switches. In addition, the console comes with water bottle holders, CD player holders, and a display screen for added comfort.
Cons
Star Trac treadmills are expensive. They increased their price for the home model (TR901) by over $500 without adding any features. The value is severely compromised and has an average rating.
The specs for the home treadmill are below average. Relating the size to its price, you are better off looking at other high end brands that will give you a stronger motor and larger deck. An 18 x 53 inch belt and 2.0 continuous duty motor treadmill should not cost you over $3,000.
Summary
Star Trac treadmills are definitely a performing machine. However, the price is high and the value is low. They belong in the high end family of treadmills. You are better off looking at a Precor or Life Fitness for a better value and performance.
