Schwinn Brand
The Schwinn Company
Schwinn is owned by Nautilus Health & Fitness Group, a conglomerate fitness company second only to Icon Health & Fitness, the largest seller of fitness equipment globally. Nautilus owns brands such as, Trimline, Stairmaster and Bowflex to name a few, with Schwinn being one of the most well known in multiple fitness machine categories. Schwinn has a large number of treadmills and fitness equipment developed and designed overseas, which at time leads to low quality parts used in their products.
Pros of Buying a Schwinn
Schwinn treadmills are backed with a 30 year motor warranty, which blows many competitors warranties away. Nautilus and Schwinn certainly hold much confidence in their core drive system for the treadmills they produce however have little in the ways of the rest? 2 years parts, 1 year wear items from what we can tell. Schwinn has a strong reputation for developing excellent spinning bikes and general use bicycles. Schwinn treadmills seem to be a lot lighter than competitor products.
Cons of Purchasing a Schwinn Treadmill
Schwinn treadmills are of average quality at a premium price - basically pricing them out of the market when you've got other brands offering more quality and value at less price. There are a large number of better treadmills and brands to consider. For example, take a look the Smooth Fitness treadmill line up, which when compared to these treadmills, annihilate the Schwinn machines.
The light weight of the Schwinn machines lend to issues of stability and durability, which depending on how active you are, can be a big problem.
The typical purchase price for a Schwinn is in the range of $1,399 and $1,999. If you're going to buy a treadmill at in that price range, you'll want more power in the machine, more features and certainly a better warranty on parts and service.
Recommendation
Overall the Schwinn line-up of fitness machines are just average performing machines at a higher price. Ultimately, unless something is changed drastically with newer models, the recommendation is to look at other treadmill brands like Smooth, Sole, Pacemaster or Vision. You will achieve more with these brands and spend less doing so. A Win-Win-Win, in our opinion.
